Ruby MCP Integration

Introduction

Ruby (a product of 17404531 Canada Inc, a Canadian Corporation) ("we," "us," or "our") provides an AI-powered sales intelligence platform. Ruby MCP connects Claude to your Ruby workspace, so you can read your accounts, deals, meetings, research and files, ask Ruby questions, and make changes in Ruby from inside a Claude chat.

Ruby MCP is a remote server built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI apps use to connect to tools. Claude reads from Ruby, and it changes something in Ruby only after you confirm it in the chat. Ruby MCP does not read your Claude conversations and writes nothing into your Claude account. This page explains how to connect, use, and disconnect Ruby MCP.

About Ruby

Ruby helps revenue teams turn meeting data into structured insight. Once Ruby MCP is connected:

  • Claude can answer pipeline questions from your own Ruby data, such as which deals close this month or which meetings have a brief ready

  • Claude can open a deal, an account's research, a meeting brief, or a file Ruby already produced

  • Claude can ask Ruby a question, and Ruby answers from the same research as in the Ruby app

  • Claude can propose a change in Ruby, such as creating a deal or adding meeting notes, which runs only after you say yes

Ruby MCP does not bring any data from Claude into Ruby beyond what you ask Claude to send, such as a question for Ruby or the notes for a meeting you add. Your meeting and deal data comes from your other connected tools.

AI-Generated Content

Ruby's answers, research and briefs are generated using AI based on your connected meeting and pipeline data, and Claude may summarize them further in the chat. AI-generated content can occasionally be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Always verify important details (deal status, next steps, dates, prices) against the record in your Ruby workspace before acting on them.

Prerequisites

Claude Requirements
  • A Claude account on any plan: Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise

  • On Free, a free custom connector slot (the Free plan allows one custom connector)

  • On Team or Enterprise, a Claude Owner who adds Ruby for the organization first (see Connecting Ruby MCP)

  • Or Claude Code, for developers who work in the terminal

Ruby Requirements
  • An active Ruby account at app.heyruby.ai

  • An active Ruby subscription. Questions to Ruby and some changes cost rubies (see Features)

OAuth Scopes Requested

Ruby MCP uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. When you connect, Claude sends you to Ruby's own sign-in page, so Claude never sees your password. Claude identifies itself with its published client metadata document, so there is no app registration step. You will be asked to grant one scope:

The ruby scope allows Claude to use Ruby MCP's tools as you. It covers Ruby and nothing else. Claude receives a refresh token with it, so you stay connected without signing in again.

The sign-in does not grant Claude your email address, name or profile. Ruby matches the sign-in to your Ruby account and shows Claude only what that account can see in the Ruby app.

Note on tokens: access tokens last 24 hours and renew automatically. Each renewal issues a new refresh token and retires the old one. Tokens issued to Claude work only on Ruby MCP and are refused by the rest of Ruby's API.

Connecting Ruby MCP

Claude Free, Pro or Max
  1. In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector

  2. Enter the name Ruby and the server URL https://mcp.heyruby.ai/mcp

  3. Click Add, then Connect

  4. Sign in with your Ruby account and click Allow

Claude Team or Enterprise
  1. A Claude Owner goes to Organization settings → Connectors, clicks Add, then Custom, and enters the server URL above

  2. Each rep goes to Customize → Connectors, finds Ruby, clicks Connect and signs in with their own Ruby account

Claude Code
  1. Run claude mcp add --transport http Ruby https://mcp.heyruby.ai/mcp

  2. Type /mcp in Claude Code, choose Ruby, and sign in with your Ruby account

No Ruby admin work is required first. Each rep connects with their own Ruby login.

Initial Configuration

After connecting, Ruby's tools appear under the Ruby connector in Claude. Claude asks for your permission the first time it uses each tool. To stop the prompts for reading, open Customize → Connectors → Ruby and set the read tools to Always allow. We recommend keeping confirm_action, start_campaign and push_campaign_to_crm on approval, since they spend rubies or write to your CRM.

If you connect more than one Ruby workspace, turn off the one you don't need in a chat (+ → Connectors), so Claude always uses the right one.

How the Integration Works

Data Flow
  • You add Ruby as a connector in Claude and sign in with your Ruby account

  • Ruby's sign-in issues Claude an access token for the ruby scope. Every call Claude makes carries that token

  • When you ask something, Claude calls the matching Ruby tool over HTTPS. Ruby checks the token, checks that your Ruby account is still active, and answers with your data only

  • For questions that need analysis, Claude asks Ruby. If the answer takes longer than about 40 seconds, Claude checks back for it

  • For changes, Ruby replies with the exact action and its price in rubies. Claude shows it to you, and Ruby runs it only after you confirm

What Claude Can Read
  • Your accounts and deals, filtered by status, close date or account, up to 50 deals per request

  • A deal's basics, health, risks, top next steps and stakeholder insights, plus everything Ruby has produced for it

  • An account's research, one section at a time, and the account tear sheet

  • Your calendar meetings, up to 60 days back or ahead, and the brief Ruby wrote for each one

  • Files Ruby holds for a deal or account (decks, one pagers, proposals, briefs and your uploads), up to the newest 25, as download links valid for 15 minutes

  • Your outreach campaigns, their contacts, drafted messaging and call prep

What Claude Can Change, After You Confirm
  • Create an account or a deal

  • Add a meeting transcript, notes or a stakeholder

  • Move a deal to its next stage, close or reopen it (a linked CRM is updated too), or rename it

  • Correct a fact, or tell Ruby to remember or forget something

  • Start an outreach campaign at the quoted price

  • Push a campaign's messaging to HubSpot

What Ruby MCP Does Not Do
  • It does not delete or merge accounts, deals, stakeholders or files. Deleting is only possible in the Ruby app

  • It does not run any change without your yes in the chat. The details always come from Ruby's saved proposal, not from Claude

  • It does not enroll contacts in sequences or send email to prospects. Messaging is drafted; you send it from your CRM

  • It does not read your Claude conversations, projects or files. Ruby receives only what Claude sends to Ruby's tools

  • It does not show Claude anything your Ruby account cannot see in the Ruby app

If we expand Ruby MCP to access additional data types in the future, this Documentation page will be updated before any new access begins.

Features

Pipeline Answers

Search accounts and deals by name or website, list deals by status or close date, and see your dashboard: account and deal counts, open pipeline and your next meetings.

Deal and Account Detail

Open a deal in full, including every piece of work Ruby has produced for it, or read an account's research section by section.

Meeting Preparation

List meetings, see which already have a brief, and read the brief Ruby wrote.

Files

Claude lists the files Ruby holds for a deal or account and gives you a download link for the one you want. Fetching an existing file does not cost a ruby.

Ask Ruby

A question to Ruby is answered the same way as in the Ruby app. Each question costs one ruby and is saved as a chat in Ruby, with a link to open it in the app.

Changes With Your Confirmation

Ask for a change in plain words. Ruby replies with the exact action and its price in rubies, and nothing happens until you confirm. Confirming twice never runs it twice, and declining leaves nothing pending.

Outreach Campaigns

Get a quote for up to 20 accounts and start the campaign at that price. Then follow progress account by account, review contacts and drafted messaging, and push the messaging to HubSpot when you are happy with it. If the price changed since the quote, Ruby refuses to start and shows the new price.

Usage Limits

  • 60 tool calls a minute per user

  • 10 questions a minute to Ruby

  • Long results are trimmed to a fixed size, so Claude never receives a full export of your workspace

If you reach a limit, Claude sees "Too many requests. Try again in a minute."

Disconnecting the Integration

From Claude
  1. In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors

  2. Find Ruby, click the three dots, and choose Remove

  3. Confirm

Claude Team or Enterprise

A Claude Owner can remove Ruby for the whole organization under Organization settings → Connectors.

Claude Code

Run claude mcp remove Ruby.

If your Ruby account is disabled or removed, Claude loses access within five minutes, even if the connector is still added.

Data Deletion After Disconnect

When you remove Ruby from Claude, Claude stops calling Ruby MCP. Questions you asked through Claude stay in your Ruby account as chats, alongside the ones you asked in the Ruby app.

To delete data associated with your Ruby MCP use, email support@heyruby.io with the subject "Data Deletion: Ruby MCP"; we will purge the requested data within 30 days.

Troubleshooting

"Add custom connector" Is Greyed Out

Your Claude plan is Team or Enterprise, where only a Claude Owner can add connectors. Ask an Owner to add Ruby under Organization settings → Connectors, then connect from Customize → Connectors.

"No Ruby account for this login"

You signed in with a login that has no Ruby account. Sign up in Ruby first, or connect again with the email you use for Ruby.

Claude Keeps Asking for Permission

"Always allow" applies to one tool at a time, and Ruby has several. Set the read tools to Always allow under Customize → Connectors → Ruby (see Initial Configuration).

"Your Ruby subscription has expired"

Renew your subscription in the Ruby app, then try again.

Authorization Failed
  • The sign-in may have timed out. Try connecting again

  • Confirm that cookies and pop-ups are allowed for claude.ai and app.heyruby.ai

Data Ruby Stores for Ruby MCP

For Ruby MCP specifically, Ruby stores:

  • Questions you ask Ruby through Claude, and the answers, as chats in your Ruby account

  • The changes you confirmed, the same way as changes made in the Ruby app

  • Rubies spent, recorded the same way as in the Ruby app

  • A log line for each tool call: which tool, when, how long it took and whether it worked. The text of your questions is not written to these logs

Ruby does not store your Claude conversations.

Security and Privacy

For details on how Ruby handles your data, see our Privacy Policy at heyruby.ai/legal/privacy-policy.

All data is transmitted using TLS 1.2 or higher. Every call is checked against a signed access token issued for Ruby MCP with the ruby scope, and Ruby confirms your Ruby account is still active. Requests must be addressed to mcp.heyruby.ai. Data is stored on AWS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Ruby see my Claude conversations?

No. Ruby receives only what Claude sends to Ruby's tools, such as the question you ask Ruby.

Can Claude delete things in Ruby?

No. Deleting accounts, deals, stakeholders or files is only possible in the Ruby app. Every other change needs your yes in the chat.

Can my teammates see what I do through Claude?

Claude reads through your own Ruby account, so it sees exactly what the Ruby app shows you. Chats you start from Claude are saved in your Ruby account, like chats started in the app.

Does Ruby use my data to train AI models?

No. Data accessed through Ruby MCP is used only to answer you. How Claude handles your conversations is governed by your Claude plan and Anthropic's policies.

Which Claude plans are supported?

All of them: Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, plus Claude Code. On Team and Enterprise, a Claude Owner adds Ruby once.

In which regions is Ruby available?

Ruby is currently available to users in North America (United States and Canada). International users may use Ruby subject to applicable laws and regulations in their jurisdiction.
